The Inspiration
Written during lockdown, the inspiration for this song was encompassing the expression of love and the hardship of a distant relationship in times of Lockdown. Loving someone and not being able to travel, but embracing positivity and hope.
This song was Influenced by the beautiful morning light at 4:45am in Aberdeenshire countryside during Mairi’s 12 hour drumathon
The Song
The sound is of sophisticated Smooth Jazz, with an uplifting dance groove. Featuring piano Bill Sharpe of Shakatak on Piano and keyboards, one of Mairi’s most influential and favourite songwriters, this song truly is an example of the best of British smooth jazz anchored by a driving dance beat. Mairi created this unique sound called “SMOP”
The Video
Filmed on location at the extraordinary and amazing Newburgh beach in Aberdeenshire. We were lucky to get such a lovely day, the weather held for us for five hours.
